Knowing what’s in the Sunday paper always determines how many I’m going to buy.

The previews say up to 5, with most areas getting 4 inserts, which includes 2 SmartSource, 1 PG, and 1 Red Plum. We might get an extra RP but I’m not holding my breath.

Usually, the first weekend in January is a great month for couponing, so I’ll probably decide how many papers I’m going to buy when I get a chance to actually put my hands on a paper. The previews give me an idea, but I ALWAYS make sure my inserts are in my papers before I pay for them. Stupid insert stealers.

Looks like 3 inserts! 1 Smart Source and 1 Red Plum and 1 General Mills Insert.

I haven’t picked up my early edition, but someone was nice enough to give me 1 copy of our local free paper. Out of the 75 or so she had stacked up. Moving right along.

In it, there was a $.55/1 Imperial Sugar coupon that should come in handy, a $1/4 Libby’s veggie coupon that looked nice, and a couple of higher than usual Pillsbury coupons.

It seems to be a good weekend for papers. If the Chronicle also has some goodies, I’ll be buying 6 papers, for the first time in close to a month.

We’re getting 2 inserts this week, one SmartSource and one RedPlum. Highlights include Huggies coupons, Bar-S Hot Dog coupons, and Newman’s Own organic coupons. I’m not too jazzed about them, so I’ll probably buy 2 newspapers.

How many are you buying? I’m only buying 2. This weekend doesn’t seem to have a whole lot going for it, and next weekend looks a little better.

How many papers are on your list?

This week, in Houston, we’re getting 3 inserts. You can expect to find 1 Smart Source, 1 General Mills and 1 Red Plum. I’m seeing reports of a 4th insert, but in my early edition of the Houston Chronicle, there were only 3. Believe me, I looked that sucker over…

The coupons that have me excited include:

Smart Source:
$3/1 Huggies Slip On Diapers (Pairs nicely with the sale at CVS this week)
$1/2 Casa Fiesta items (Made for free beans and taco shells at Food Town and Sellers Brothers)
$5/1 Bengay

Red Plum:
$.50/1 Mahatma Rice (Love this coupon – we eat a lot of rice)
$1/2 Pop Secret (Should make for really cheap popcorn at Foodarama or Food Town)

General Mills:
Pretty standard, low value coupons. If you’re brand loyal to any of these products, it’s a good chance to save.

How many are you buying? I’m not sure how many I’m actually going to buy. I’m going to hit my neighbors up, for sure.
